I was lucky enough to be invited to a friend’s house for Choosuk (Korean Thanksgiving). Most, if not, everyone returns to their hometowns to have dinner at home. It’s a big, big deal here so you’ll find that most businesses are closed and Seoul becomes quite the ghost-town. Tony was kind enough to invite us to his home for Choosuk lunch. What a treat to have a traditional home-cooked meal. I was delighted.
OMG this dish has the funniest name. The yellowish one covered in egg is called Dong-Ku-Lang-Ding! And Pachon is the traditional korean pancake in the front.
Cold kimchi soup. A little strange.
Chapchae! Korean glass noodles eaten with Bulgogi. Bomb. My fav.
Kimchi of course.
This is actually a desert. Has a bean in it. Anybody know what’s it called?
Bulgogi!!! Yes!!
Dried squid
Um… Korean fried rice cake. It’s sweet. But a little too greazy for me.
Anytime is PBS time! This just happened to be dinner time. Pork Bone Soup or a.k.a. Kam Ja Tang baby! After having eaten this a number of times already I noticed that they like to add Sesame leaf to the broth which adds a bit of freshness. And also Enokitake mushrooms are added for texture and contrast. The broth is excellent. Especially with ramen noodles. I could write an entire post about this. I don’t get enough of this dish. So it’s official. It’s bomb here. My only single complaint is that there isn’t enough of it. You only get two bones. Luckily Tan and his friends are regular customers so we get special treatment. Kekeke…
ok.. its offical... after all the food posts! this really is all koreans eat!
